On Friday, October 27, the day Durrance reached her centennial birthday, she spent the morning cleaning up hurricane debris inside her house. During Hurricane Irma, a large oak tree from her yard fell onto her home. It created a hole that pierced through the roof and the ceiling above Durrance's kitchen.
