911 Dispatchers: The behind-the-scenes heroes

TAMPA (FOX 13) - This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

It's a time to come together and thank and recognize the dedication of communications personnel, as well as other public safety communications professionals throughout the country.

In a time of crisis, dispatchers are the calming voice on the other end of the phone. Some would say, they're "the life blood" of public safety.

National Public Safety Telecommunicator's Week is the time set aside each year to give recognition to these professionals and thank them for their dedication to public safety.

The City of Tampa is now looking to add more than a dozen dispatchers to their team.
