LUTZ (FOX 13) - Chaos broke out Memorial Day morning at an unassuming home on Canoe Dr. in Lutz.
In a 911 call released by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, family members of 20-year-old old Jordan Caraballo said he was going crazy and acting violent towards them.
Minutes later, Deputy Jessie Larkin would arrive on the scene.
”He just came at me and I thought it’s going to be a big conflict,” he said.
The fight was on. Deputy Larkin suffered a few punches to the chest. The kerfuffle may have lasted longer had it not been for neighbor Ray Johnson.
”My training kicked and I was like, 'This is not going to happen on my watch,' so I bolted over there,” said Johnson.
Johnson is an Air Force veteran and teaches security and firearms training. He heads up the company “77 Alpha” with his wife.
“I didn't jump in because the officer needed assistance. I jumped in because I wanted to help the officer in the confrontation,” he said.
Together they subdued the Caraballo, who now faces five charges including domestic aggravated assault and resisting an officer with violence.
”[I'm] very grateful. [I] didn't know him and he came in a situation where he was needed,” said Deputy Larkin.
”I have the utmost respect for law enforcement officers. I’d do it again in a heartbeat,” Johnson said.
