ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - Police say a crash involving two vehicles sent one of them crashing into a downtown St. Pete building this afternoon.
It was just after noon when a sedan and SUV collided on 4th Street S near 5th Avenue S. The impact sent the SUV through the front doors of the American Dialysis Center on 4th Street.
One person inside the building was injured badly enough to be taken to the hospital, but police said the injury did not appear the be life-threatening.
Meanwhile, the driver of the sedan ran away from the scene. There was no immediate word on his or her status.
Police are asking drivers to avoid the area. The I-175 ramps to and from 4th Street are blocked and 4th Street is closed from 4th Avenue S to 6th Avenue S.
