DADE CITY (FOX 13) - Savannah Jones is always willing to lend a helping hand.
"Makes me feel happy because you are making the other person's day because you're helping them," Savannah, 14, said.
As a small child, she loved helping her grandmother by carrying groceries and moving furniture.
"I would all the time help her." Savannah added. "I would all the time be there for her."
She spent her summer volunteering at Bayfront Health in Pasco County.
"I loved being there and helping others and all the patients that you meet," she explained.
Savannah was rewarded with the President's Volunteer Service Award, presented to citizens who volunteer 100 hours in a year. She did it in six months.
"I went every day and it just kept adding and adding up," Savannah said.
"It's mind-blowing," offered Shalom Ocampo, her teacher at Torchbearers's Christian Academy. "It's something that is just inspiring; it makes you feel hopeful for this generation."
Savannah has a message to other teens.
"More younger kids should get out and volunteer and help others."
