ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - One person on a moped has died after a crash involving a car in St. Petersburg, police say.
Lanes of Martin Luther King Street North are closed in both directions between 94th Avenue North and Gandy Boulevard following the crash that occurred after 4:30 a.m. Friday. Traffic is expected to be impacted for several hours during the investigation, according to St. Petersburg police.
Investigators say the moped driver, an adult male, died at the scene, and the driver of the car involved is “cooperating.”
FOX 13's traffic reporter Vanessa Ruffes recommends taking a detour on 4th Street North or Interstate 275.
No other details have been released, including the cause of the crash.
