Replicas of Columbus' ships docking at Tampa Convention Center

Anyone who's ever wondered what the shops Christopher Columbus said on his voyage to the new word looked like, replicas of two of them are in the Bay Area.

The Nina and Pinta will dock at the Tampa Convention Center Friday and stay until March 30. The Columbus Foundation created the replica ships to educate people about the type of vessels used during that time in history.

These sailing museums travel to ports all over North America.

The ships will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., for self-guided tours. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, and $6 for students ages 5 to 16. Children younger than age 4 are free. No reservations are necessary.

Proceeds will benefit The Columbus Foundation. For more information, visit NinaPinta.org.
