A small plane has crashed into a neighborhood in Pompano Beach, catching at least  one home on fire as it came down.

Aerials of the scene show firefighters trying to put a fire out at a home damaged by the plane as it crashed, eventually landing in another home's backyard. Firefighters were on the scene and residents appeared to be spraying the wreckage with garden hoses. The homes are located near the Pompano Beach Airpark.

The FAA said the pilot experienced problems shortly after takeoff.

Three people were on board the plane and were rushed to the hospital with severe burns and are in critical condition, WSVN reported.

There's no word yet on their conditions.

No one on the ground was hurt.
