Sunshine Skyway Bridge reopened after heavy fog

TAMPA (FOX 13) - The Sunshine Skyway Bridge was closed for hours Tuesday morning due to heavy fog in the area.

All of the travel lanes approaching the bridge experienced major delays as a result. The bridge was reopened around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, but fog is expected to be a problem again Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Pinellas and Manatee County drivers who include the following in their daily commute should plan for extra travel time Wednesday morning:

• Southbound  I-275 in Pinellas
• Northbound U.S. 19 approaching I-275 in Manatee County, before it turns into the Skyway Bridge
• Northbound I-275 in Manatee County
