The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office pulled a vehicle out of the waters of Blind Pass early Thursday morning.

Investigators say the SUV drove into the water around 3 a.m. at the intersection of  75th Avenue and Sunset Way in St. Pete Beach.  The driver of the vehicle managed to escape and was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Sergeant Spencer Gross, from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, told FOX 13's Shayla Reaves that the driver was interviewed, and "provided information" that led them to believe "there's a possibility" that somebody else was inside the vehicle.

When crews recovered the vehicle around 8:30 a.m., they did not find anybody inside.

Alcohol is not believed to have played a factor at this time.

The investigation continues.
