TAMPA (FOX 13) - The Tampa Bay AirFest takes flight this weekend.
The free on-base event attracts thousands of fans to the MacDill Air Force Base.
The Air Force Thunderbirds will be the event's featured draw, along with aerial performances by military and civilian aviators.
This year’s event will be the first time it has been held in two years. Federal budget cuts forced the event's cancelation in 2013 and 2015.
A slimmed-down show was held in 2014 but still drew about 200,000 people. Event organizers said they expect about the same attendance or more this year.
The show is Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 8 a.m.
