TPD says the video shows the dark BMW with a soft top heading westbound on Fowler Avenue through what appears to be a red traffic light at Florida Avenue, which is a short distance from the scene of the incident.

In the video, the BMW can be seen driving through the intersection and, moments later, the Dodge Ram truck in which the victim was the passenger, drives through the same spot.

Police say the deadly encounter unfolded minutes later, around 11:30 a.m., at the intersection of westbound Fowler Avenue and Interstate 275 Detectives say a Dodge Ram truck and a black BMW were both stopped at a red light on Fowler when the driver of the BMW got out and walked over to the truck to confront the driver.

TPD notes the timestamp on the surveillance video is inaccurate.

The driver of the truck remained in the vehicle, but the BMW driver “inflicted upper body trauma” on a passenger inside, later identified as Gilbert Serna, 56.

The truck driver attempted to follow the BMW as it headed west on Fowler, but police found the truck stopped a few blocks away, at the corner of W. 109th Avenue and N. Ashley Street.  They performed CPR on Serna, but he later passed away at a hospital.

"The driver of the Dodge Ram, he tried to follow it for a while. He was unable to do it. He saw his friend was struggling and dying," offered TPD spokesman Steve Hegarty.

Now, police are looking for the black BMW, but they had no other description or details to immediately offer.

Police say this incident was not connected to a fatal shooting that occurred around the same time near 28th Street and E. Lake Avenue.
