Soccer player does CPR on seagull hit by soccer ball

A Turkish soccer player reportedly revived a seagull with CPR after it was whacked by a soccer ball in the middle of a match. 

A soccer player in Istanbul paused a match to perform CPR on a seagull that was struck by a ball during the game. 

According to Storyful, the dramatic moment happened during the Istanbul First Amateur League playoff final.

Seagull saved

Video taken by sports reporter Onur Ozsoy shows the team’s goalkeeper kick a soccer ball into the air, which then immediately strikes a seagull that was flying low right above the field.

Team captain Gani Catan rushed into action, running to the seagull and performing CPR while surrounded by his teammates. He then cradled the bird and carried it safely to the sidelines.

In a post on Instagram, the team said the seagull was revived on the pitch, thanks to Catan’s good deeds.

Even though the team lost the match, they said they were glad that "a life was saved."

According to Turkiye Today, "the bird had wing damage from the impact and could not fly for the time being," but "it was taken under treatment."
