Getting out of downtown Tampa is going to be a bit tougher this week. Westbound lanes on Kennedy boulevard are closed just west of downtown.
The closure is from Ashley Drive across the Hillsborough River to Hyde Park Avenue. The Florida Department of Transportation is closing the road for some major drainage work, including the replacement of pipes.
Eastbound lanes heading into downtown are still open.
Westbound drivers can use the Cass Street bridge, Selmon Expressway, or Columbus Drive as an alternate.
The roadwork is expected to last until the end of the week.
