Family members of Parkland shooting victim Chris Hixon address Nikolas Cruz during sentencing
The wife, sister, and son of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School athletic director Chris Hixon, a Navy veteran who died trying to stop the 2018 Parkland shooting, walked up to the podium one by one to address Nikolas Cruz directly for the first time - something none of the victims' families were not allowed to do during the trial. "You are unfortunately living proof that evil does exist in this world," Hixon's son, Thomas, said. "You are going to be relegated to a name on a tombstone that no one ever visits."
