5 disturbances swirl in the tropics
FOX 13 Meteorologist Tony Sadiku is watching a handful of tropical disturbances, including three named storms that popped up over the last two days. On Monday, Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 and Tropical Storm Gert formed. Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 dumped rain on Florida over the weekend and is now moving west in the Gulf of Mexico. The system could impact Texas as early as Tuesday. Tropical Storm Franklin is in the Caribbean, but it is expected to turn into the Atlantic and gain strength. Tropical Storm Gert is having a tough time and will likely dissipate on Monday. Emily, which became a tropical storm on Sunday, has been downgraded to a post-tropical storm and the National Hurricane Center says it has issued its last advisory on the storm. Sadiku says the good news is that none of the tropical systems will impact Florida. The next named storm will be called Harold.
