Officials: Wrong-way driver system did not detect driver who hit TPD officer
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, a wrong-way detection device is located at Busch Boulevard, where the driver is believed to have entered I-275. The devices are operating, however, they received a 'false read' around 8 p.m. Monday, hours before the crash, but not around 1 a.m. when this crash happened.
