Hybrid system possible near the Bahamas
FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber is tracking the tropics with 28 days remaining in the Atlantic hurricane season. An area of low pressure east of the Bahamas is being monitored for possible development over the next several days. The National Hurricane Center gives the system a 10% chance of development over the next two days and a 30% chance over the next seven days. The disturbance is developing along an old frontal boundary and could take on some subtropical characteristics. Rather than a purely tropical system, it could develop into a hybrid system with both tropical and subtropical features. A front moving through the Southeast is expected to push the system eastward, keeping it away from the U.S. coast. Forecasters will continue monitoring the area to see whether it develops over the coming days.
