Tampa man hit, killed by tractor-trailer following I-75 crash that closed interstate's northbound lanes: FHP

All lanes of northbound I-75 have reopened near Bruce B Downs Blvd. in Hillsborough County following a deadly crash that snarled traffic during the morning commute for hours, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. 

What we know:

Troopers said a Tampa man was traveling northbound in the outside lane of I-75 around 6 a.m. on Tuesday when he crashed into the back of a Chevy box truck as he tried to overtake the vehicle.

Post-collision, troopers said the box truck came to a final rest on the shoulder of the highway while the Tampa man’s Dodge 1500 rolled over several times, throwing him into the center lanes, where he was struck by a tractor-trailer that was also traveling northbound.

The Tampa man died at the scene.

What we don't know:

Troopers did not provide information on any injuries the other drivers may have sustained.
