A dog that got loose after her owners got into a car crash in Chiefland and ran off has been found safe.

"Lola," a one-and-a-half year old Golden Doodle, got scared and slipped out of her collar after the crash, got side-swiped by a car, then ran off into the woods.

Her owners, who are from Tampa, scoured the area searching for her and police posted her photo on Facebook hoping someone would spot her.

Patricia Kamadia says after several days, Lola has been found. Her daughter, Adriana Scholz, says Lola showed up outside someone's home, they took her in and saw on social media that she was missing and called police. "The power of social media!" Scholz told FOX 13.

Lola was brought to the vet to be checked out and to have her microchip, which was up to date, checked, and her owners were notified.

They were planning to be reunited on Thursday afternoon.
