One person is dead and three others suffered minor injuries in a multi-vehicle crash that closed a portion of I-4 westbound in Plant City for hours on Thursday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 22-year-old man from Kissimmee was traveling westbound on I-4, just past Thonotosassa Road around 7:40 a.m. when he did not slow or stop for traffic.

Troopers say the man collided into the back of an SUV driven by a 52-year-old man from Celebration causing a chain-reaction crash involving three other vehicles.

The man from Celebration died at the scene.

The 22-year-old suffered minor injuries as did two other drivers involved in the crash.

I-4 was closed for several hours Thursday morning while authorities investigated.
