Tampa Police investigating two deadly hit-and-runs

Police in Tampa say two people were hit and killed in separate incidents, with the driver taking off in each case. Ariel Plasencia reports.

A moped driver was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning, according to the Tampa Police Department.

According to police, the crash happened near East Hillsborough Avenue and North 50th Street, and the other vehicle involved in the crash left the scene.

The eastbound and westbound lanes of East Hillsborough Avenue from North 47th Street until North 50th Street were closed while police investigated.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark-colored Dodge Challenger with front-end damage.

Investigators are still diligently working to determine the year and tag of the vehicle. 

The vehicle was last seen southbound on 56th St from Hillsborough Ave.
