Two people are dead, and one man is facing DUI manslaughter following a crash in Sarasota. FOX 13’s Kimberly Kuizon reports.
SARASOTA, Fla. - An Ohio man was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison after a deadly DUI crash on Interstate 75 that killed two people last December in Sarasota County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
What we know:
Troopers say on Dec. 14, Fred Donaldson, 48, was driving with a blood alcohol level that was more than twice the legal limit.
Donaldson was traveling at approximately 83 mph in a Toyota sedan when he approached a Nissan SUV. Troopers say Donaldson swerved and hit the SUV, forcing it off the roadway and into the grass shoulder, where it struck a tree.

The crash happened along northbound I-75 near mile marker 203.
The adult driver and passenger in the SUV, both from Pensacola, were killed in the crash.
Following the investigation, troopers arrested Donaldson on a charge of DUI manslaughter.

On Tuesday, Donaldson entered a plea of no contest and was sentenced to 20.5 years in prison.
What we don't know:
FHP has not named the victims involved in the crash at this time.
