CLEARWATER, Fla. - One man is in the hospital and another is behind bars after a stabbing Wednesday morning at a Clearwater gas station.
What we know:
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, a 51-year-old man was smoking a cigarette at the Rally Gas Station located at 3400 Ulmerton Road in Clearwater shortly before 1 a.m.
Deputies say a 44-year-old Enrique Lopez approached the man and asked for a cigarette.
The two carried on a conversation before the victim walked away to speak with someone else at the gas station.

Shortly afterward, deputies said Lopez returned and punched the victim in the face. When the victim tried to walk away, deputies said Lopez followed him and continued to punch him until he fell to the ground. Once the victim was on the ground, Lopez stabbed him repeatedly, according to PCSO.

Lopez was arrested inside the gas station.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital.
Lopez was charged with first-degree attempted murder, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting an officer with violence.
