Lakeland Police said the suspect in a deadly shooting at a gas station early Saturday morning has turned himself in.

Police said Derrick Deon Robinson turned himself in at LPD at around 6 p.m. Saturday and was taken to the Polk County Jail.

It started Friday night at Rumors Night Club at 935 East Memorial Boulevard. Witnesses told police there was a fight between "opposing groups" inside the club, but was broken up by security guards.

Both groups left the club, one of which went to hang out in the parking lot of a Chevron gas station on West Memorial Boulvevard. Shortly after officers got to Rumors, another call came in for an incident at the Chevron.

Witnesses said three members of the other group, including Derrick Robinson, went to the gas station. Police believe Robinson started firing a gun at the group. Two women standing with the members of the opposing group were shot.

Officers arrived shortly afterward.

One of the shooting victims was still there. She was taken to the hospital and pronounced deceased. Officers were told another shooting victim had been brought to the hospital. She was able to tell investigators that the incident from Rumors Night Club spilled over to the Chevron gas station; and while the fighting continued there at the gas station, someone fired a weapon into the crowd from a vehicle.

The police do not know if the women were the intended victims.

Robinson, 25, faces charges of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
