Tampa doctor trains protection dogs for law enforcement

Brandon Chircop and his wife Veronica are training dogs to protect others as part of her business, The Working K9.

"We've worked with people of different police agencies," said Brandon Chircop.

"We're very, very big supporters of our law enforcement and any sort of agencies that are helping protect and save people on a day to day basis," shared Veronica Chircop.

When Brandon isn't suiting up for dog training he's putting on scrubs.

"I'm a doctor, surprisingly. I'm internal medicine," explained Brandon Chircop.

"I feel like for him, it's more like a decompression type of activity. And he, you know, gets joy in seeing what the dogs are able to do," said his wife.

With this intense training, Dr. Chircop is preparing these dogs to save their own lives as well as the human ones they will protect.

"The people who taught me medicine, they had to be experts in their field, which translates into my education, which translates into how I save lives and help people in their darkest times," explained Brandon Chircop. "The same thing with the dogs. You're training these dogs for a purpose and there's a chance that they get hurt, they get killed. But you do everything you can to give the dog the highest chance of success."
