When police arrived, they found a woman in her mid-30s suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body. She passed away at the scene, TPD said.

Dig deeper:

Investigators identified Jamarian Bradfield as the suspect. Police said Bradfield and the woman knew each other and were arguing just before the shooting.

According to TPD, Bradfield, who was driving a sedan, allegedly pointed a gun at the woman and threatened to shoot her prior to the shots being fired.

Officers later located Bradfield at a nearby apartment complex in the 10400 block of North 22nd Street. Police said Bradfield was armed and taken into custody.

Bradfield’s vehicle was impounded, and the firearm was seized as evidence.

Bradfield faces a murder charge and was taken to the Orient Road Jail. His arrest photo was not made available at this time.

What they're saying:

"The swift apprehension of this armed individual is a direct result of the relentless work of our officers and investigators," Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said. "We hope this quick arrest brings a sense of justice to the victim’s family as they navigate this senseless tragedy."
