Bucs players lend helping hand with Holiday Home Build

Working alongside the Habitat for Humanity Hillsborough, Bianca Anderson was helping build her and her neighbors' homes piece by piece as she got ready to move into her new home with her two-year-old daughter.

While it may be one thing to have a hand in building your own home, it's another thing entirely to have the hands on an NFL player involved, too.

"I'm so excited. Right now, I'm already planning her room," Anderson said. "I think I'm out here doing a good job. They said I was doing good," joked Buccaneers linebacker Jose Ramirez.

As part of the Buccaneers Holiday Home Build, members of the team, like Ramirez, traded their helmets for hard hats, helping these builds be completed.

"You always remember where you came from, so being able to give that extra helping hand, you feel like you're doing God's duty," said cornerback Jamel Dean.

For the players, donating their time on an off-day was just another way of giving back to a community that supports them.

"When you have people who support you, and you can give back to them, as well, it's always a good cause," said outside linebacker Yaya Diaby.

Even if the players were just lending a hand for one day of volunteer work, the time spent helping build those homes is something that will stick with them long after the last brick has been laid.

"I just can't wait until the final piece (is finished) and for them to actually see their home, enter and get that key," Diaby said.
