Hometown Heroes: Designs by Jay Rosenberg

Jay Rosenberg has an eye for interior design, and a heart for helping others.

Five years ago, he started his own interior design company called "Designs by Jay Rosenberg" which stages and remodels homes across Tampa Bay. Once his business starting taking off, Jay immediately started paying his good fortune forward by giving away his model home furniture to people in need.

"It just fills me up inside. As a local business owner this is what it's about," said Jay.

FOX 13 was there as he surprised Patti Silliman, a single mom trying to put her life back together following after a messy divorce and the death of her son.

Patti couldn't believe the model home full of furniture was hers— for free.

It's moments like that, Jay says, that make decision to give away 70 percent of his furniture an easy choice.

"Patti is not just a person who fell on hard times. Patti is a mother, she's a grandmother, and most importantly she's a member of our community in need," explained Jay.

Patti isn't the first person he's helped. Jay has furnished over 35 homes in Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco counties.

Jay said, "What better way than a few well-appointed items to really brighten someone’s day and really change their outlook so when they get home, they look forward to being there?"

Judging from the expression we saw on Patti's face, it seems like Jay's plan is working.
