Caregiver goes above and beyond to help seniors

TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - A caregiver for Tampa seniors is being rewarded for going above and beyond to help her clients.

For Shanna Rohrbaugh, in-home senior care is a calling that has changed her life.

"I feel I found my place," she told FOX 13.

Shanna works for Home Instead Senior Care. They provide in-home care for seniors who need help to stay in their homes.

"That gives me a sense of pride too, seeing them being able to do better for themselves or do something that I showed them," Rohrbaugh said. "That makes me happy."

In recognition of all her hard work for clients, Rohrbaugh was named "Caregiver of the Year” for the Southeast region. She was selected out of thousands of candidates for the prestigious award.  
"I was very honored and I felt appreciated for the work that I do," she said. 

"Shanna is one of the most caring people that I have ever met," said her employer, David Hoops. 
He is not surprised Shanna got the award.

"She always looking out for the best interest of her clients. She provides them the care that they need," he said.

Rohrbaugh said she enjoys helping seniors live independent and fulfilling lives.

"I just do what I do for my clients because I care for them," she said.
