Deputies: Riverview man followed teens from mall, shot at car
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Deputies in Hillsborough County say they’ve arrested one of the two suspects who followed two teens home from a Brandon mall and shot at their car.
It was last Wednesday when the teens reported that a Hispanic male and black female followed them through the Westfield Town Center mall in Brandon, then to a Valrico neighborhood. That’s where the male opened fire on the teens’ car in what detectives believe was a robbery attempt.
The teens fled the scene and were not hurt, but investigators put out an alert for the two suspects.
Now, a week later, they say Roger Ocasio Colon was the man who fired at the car. The 23-year-old was arrested today on several charges, including aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Deputies did not immediately say what led them to him.
The second suspect, meanwhile, has not been publicly identified.
