Crews contained the fire and searched the home, where an older woman was found in a bedroom and pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
The sheriff's office said neighbors tried to help, but ultimately the woman was unable to get out of the trailer.
Officials say they are still working to notify next of kin.
PCFR says no firefighters were injured.
Dig deeper:
Investigators believe the fire may have been caused by improper disposal of cigarettes, according to PCSO.
PCSO says they are waiting for the woman's autopsy to be completed as part of its death investigation.
What they're saying:
"Scenes like this are always tough for all involved — especially when entrapment is suspected. Our first arriving crews encountered heavy fire conditions, our crew gained access to the structure and made a valiant effort to locate any entrapped occupants. Our crews located a victim who succumbed to their injuries," Fire Chief Shawn Smith said. "All Polk County Fire Rescue members send our condolences to the family and friends of the individual at this difficult time."
