Police investigate after bicyclist fatally struck in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Tampa police officers are investigating a deadly crash involving a bicyclist on Sunday morning.

The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Columbus Drive at 26th Street North. 

According to investigators, the victim was hit by a blue Toyota sedan as he was crossing the intersection.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died.

The driver of the Toyota was also taken to the hospital after reporting an injury.

The crash remains under investigation by the Tampa Police Department.
