Police seek public's help in possible abduction

TAMPA (FOX 13) - Police are looking for information about a possible abduction reported Monday afternoon in Tampa.

On Monday at around 5 p.m, witnesses reported a man grabbed, hit, and forcibly put a woman into a black 2017 Ford Fusion.

It apparently happened on Main Street, a few hundred feet from the corner of Armenia Avenue. 

"[I am in] shock and awe," said Shakeyba Greene, who lives near the area. "I am upset. I live here, I walk to work sometimes, I ride a bike. I felt safe."

Witnesses were able to give police good descriptions. The woman - thought to be in her 20s - was wearing a white top and shorts, with toenails painted white.

The plate on the Ford Fusion was reported as HNKM01.

"When you are working a case like this, every second counts," said Janelle McGregor of Tampa Police. "Our ultimate priority now is locating the female who was involved in this case."

Police say the man had a dark complexion, was about 6' tall, and had a small mustache.

"We believe there is a strong possibility that both the male and the female who are involved in this incident may be known to each other," said McGregor.

Neighbors hope the suspect will come forward. They hope descriptions of the car and of both suspect and victim will help police figure out what happened, and quickly.

"They need to come clean, they need to let her go," said King Thomas. "Whoever has her, that's a dumb move."
