Deputies say Connor Strickland, 21, was killed after losing control of his vehicle, which flipped into a ditch off State Road 60. Strickland and his girlfriend, Alexandria McConnell, 26, weren't wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. The couple's 2-year-old child was secured in a child seat and remained in the vehicle during the collision.
McConnell and the child were flown to the hospital in helicopters. They are both currently in stable condition, PCSO said.
A dog was also found in the vehicle and was taken to Polk County Animal Control.
Investigators say the vehicle was traveling 74 mph in a 60 mph zone just seconds before the crash.
