Sumter's floppy-eared deputy needs a name

Deputies in Sumter County are happy to show off the newest member of their team – a floppy-eared rookie with a nose for crime who needs a name.

The new K9, they say, is a 16-week-old male bloodhound puppy they just received from the team at Mayo Correctional Institute in Lafayette County. Over the next nine to 12 months, they say he will go through "extensive training, learning tracking and scent detection" before joining the department’s other bloodhounds, Dallas and Libby, on the trail.

The sheriff’s office is asking for help naming the pup.  You can offer your suggestion on the SCSO Facebook page, where deputies promise more pictures of the cute recruit.
