Veterans fly to Washington for day of honor, reflection

A group of veterans proudly took off for our nation’s capital this morning aboard an Honor Flight from St. Pete Clearwater Airport.

Their stories are as unique and diverse as the country they proudly served: A Word War II soldier, a Korean War Marine, and a Women’s Army Corps veteran were among the 77 aboard the chartered Allegiant jet.

The veterans will spend the day touring Washington DC, taking in the monuments built in their honor before flying back to the airport this evening.

The public is invited to welcome them back at 8:30 p.m.
