Video shows Disney monorail cruising with door open

Cell phone video shows a scary moment from Walt Disney World’s monorail over the weekend -- the door came open while people were riding inside.

A Disney guest who goes by the handle @abbieprimeknits on Instagram, said on her account that before the train left the transportation and ticket center, the door wouldn't latch.  A maintenance person worked on it for about 10 minutes, she said, getting the door to properly close.

However, as the monorail rounded a curve outside the TTC, the door popped open.  Her footage showed the monorail traveling at elevated heights over trees, roads, and buildings.

She says she felt panicked, while others held on tightly to rails and seats before the train came to a stop at the Epcot station.

"I need a drink. @disney, guys, you gotta get on this, what if somebody had fallen?" one post asked.

In her other video post, she wrote: "Monorail red is not having a good day and I’m having a panic attack."

Disney says the monorail was taken out of service.

People who have viewed the video are commenting as well, saying: "Oh goodness!!! So glad nobody was hurt!"  and, "These trains should not even move if doors don’t close properly."

Although she has ridden the monorail many times before, @abbieprimeknits says from now on, she'll take the bus.
