After seeing our first named storm of the season last week, things are fairly quiet in the tropics. FOX 13 meteorologist Dave Osterberg says despite warm water temperatures there is a lot of dust coming off of the Saharan Coast and African Coast, which is keeping a lot of thunderstorms from developing. Just a couple of days into hurricane season and we?ve already had our first tropical system- Potential Tropical Cyclone One. While it had a high chance of developing into something stronger as it rolled off the coast of Mexico, it did not materialize. The system dumped about 10 inches of rain in South Florida but did not have a significant impact on the Bay Area.
