FOX 13 Meteorologist Tony Sadiku says things look good as we head into the home stretch of hurricane season. He does not expect any development over the next five days. However, he says some long-range models show that the Caribbean could be waking up in the next 8-10 days, but he does not see anything in the near future.

FOX 13 Meteorologist Tony Sadiku says all is quiet in the tropics with no signs of development over the next five days. He says while there is only about a week and half left of hurricane season, there could be something brewing in the Caribbean down the road, but for the next five days there is nothing developing and no threat to Florida.

The city of North Port felt some of the worst of Hurricane Ian’s wrath. It's been seven weeks since the storm, but a homeowner, who has a disability and a limited budget, is worried the tree that fell from an abandoned property onto his home's power lines could eventually catch fire.

Answering calls for help comes natural for first responders in North Port. In the face of a massive storm, they had to leave their families to help others. "When you sign up to be a first responder. Whether it is a police officer, EMT, paramedic or firefighter you think of the daily routine of it. The calls for service, going to traffic crashes and helping people in that way," said North Port PD Sgt. Scott Guzman.

Help after Ian: Disaster relief center open Thursday in Tampa

The Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) has set up at Raymond James Stadium, to provide food assistance for to those impacted by Hurricane Ian and who are not receiving food assistance benefits through the regular Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

With 13 days left in the 2022 hurricane season, FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says he does not expect anything to develop over the next five days. He says it will stay quiet for the near future and he hopes it stays quiet through the end of November.
