1 person and a dog die after fire destroys mobile home in Crystal River
CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. - A mobile home in a Crystal River community was destroyed by a fire, killing one person and a dog on Saturday morning, according to Citrus County Fire Rescue.
Crews arrived at the mobile home off of N Suncoast Blvd. Investigators say they thought somebody was still inside the home since a car was in the driveway.
The intensity of the fire caused a power line to collapse and contact a hose line, causing an electrical hazard.

During the first search efforts, only the dog was discovered. The victim's body was later located in a closet within the main fire room.
CCFR sent out a reminder about smoke detector safety after this tragic incident.

"Citrus County Fire Rescue urges all residents to ensure they have working smoke detectors in their homes and to develop and practice a fire escape plan. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
