13-year-old boy survives accidental shooting, police say

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A teenager is recovering after police say he accidentally shot himself Thursday night. 

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, a 13-year-old boy shot himself in the 1900 block of 11th Avenue South.

Police say he went to a nearby church for help and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. 

Investigators say they are still working to determine who owns the gun and how the teen got ahold of it.
