Bald eagles duke it out in the sky, on the ground

Two bald eagles were caught on video in a heated standoff by Florida wildlife officers.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission says the two bald eagles were battling it out in the sky in Palm Beach County when they both fell to the ground and got into a wrestling match.

The officers who responded thought at first the birds were dead after they fell, but officers saw them raise their heads and open their beaks as they walked closer.

The birds stayed on the ground gripped to each other for several hours after eventually becoming exhausted, calling a truce and flying away, officers said.

Officers say this is the beginning of nesting season in Florida and bald eagles are very territorial. The birds will aggressively defend their nests from intruders.
