Body camera video shows Florida couple arrested after toddler found alone in car outside bar
EDGEWATER, Fla. - Edgewater Police arrested a mother and her boyfriend after officers said a 2-year-old was found unattended in a car while they enjoyed some drinks at a bar. On Monday, the police department released video recorded by officers' body-worn cameras which showed the couple's arrest.
'You brought her to a bar, and you sat inside!'
What we know:
Edgewater police arrested Kristina Vitucci and her boyfriend, Joshua Harris, for child neglect after they allegedly left a 2-year-old in an unlocked car for over two hours while drinking at a bar. Officers found the child crying, cold to the touch, and dressed inadequately for the weather. Both suspects were detained at the scene after failing to comply with police commands.
What we don't know:
Authorities have not confirmed whether either suspect has a history of similar incidents or if the child was placed in protective custody. It is also unclear if alcohol played a role in their decision-making or whether additional charges may be filed.
The backstory:
Police were called to Jan & Lib’s Hi-Tops Lounge after reports of a child alone in a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers said they discovered the toddler in distress. Body camera footage shows officers confronting Harris as he exited the bar and later questioning the child's mother, Vitucci.

The child was left alone for over two hours before police arrived, according to an arrest report. Officers arrested Vitucci and Harris on-site and later released body camera footage showing their interactions and subsequent argument while in the patrol car.
What they're saying:
In a police report, an officer wrote that it appeared the child had been "crying for a period of time as there was dry mucus and tears on the child’s face."
In video from inside a patrol, Harris and Vitucci are heard arguing. Harris had told officers that he only learned that the child was in the car shortly before their arrival.
"You brought her to a bar, and you sat inside!" Harris yelled at Vitucci, to which she replied, "And I also asked you to leave how many times?"
"You're charges are going to get dismissed, but mine aren't," Vituccis told Harris as the two argued.
