FEMA opens one-stop-shop for help after the storm

A one-stop-shop for all things FEMA opened in Hillsborough County Thursday.

The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) was opened to help Florida storm survivors.

The DRC will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.

The DRC is located at Hillsborough Community College -- The Regent, 6437 Watson Road, Riverview, FL 33578.

Storm victims must register for FEMA services first. The registration process is the first step in recovery and requires information such as insurance policies, and bank information for possible direct transfer of funds. To register, go online to www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621- 3362.

Some of the services available at a DRC include:

-Guidance regarding disaster recovery

-Clarification of any written correspondence received

-Housing Assistance and Rental Resource information

-Answers to questions, resolution to problems and referrals to agencies that may provide further assistance

-Status of applications being processed by FEMA

SBA program information if there is a SBA Representative at the Disaster Recovery Center site

-Crisis Counseling Program

-Disaster Legal Services

-Disaster Unemployment

-Funeral Assistance - Individuals and Households Program

As more centers open, survivors may locate one near them at https://www.fema.gov/disaster-recovery-centers or by calling FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. That information is also available on the FEMA Mobile App.
