Goats clear grass near new Atlanta stadium
ATLANTA, Ga. (WGCL/NNS) - Landscapers at the Mercedes-Benz stadium are taking an interesting approach in an effort to keep their grass trimmed.
Instead of using loud equipment - the stadium landscapers have enlisted goats to maintain the grounds.
More than 40 goats are now working at the downtown stadium.
The goats are typically seen throughout the day chewing on the grass.
Michael Swanson - owner of the herd of goats – says the animals are quieter and eco-friendlier than lawnmowers and leaf blowers.
"They really don't like grass,” Swanson explained. “What they like is the leafy vegetation."
This isn't goats' first time on the job. They've have been used to clear grass from other locations in and around Atlanta.
