Hot air balloon hits power line in Pasco County
WESLEY CHAPEL (FOX 13) - Update:
A couple celebrating their anniversary are now just glad to be alive after a harrowing balloon accident.
Hector and Ashley Vega were the only passengers in the balloon being piloted by Michael Braun.
The Vegas saw that the balloon was coming in to land a little too close to some power lines.
Hector Vega told our reporter that he warned the pilot, but was assured that they had enough room to clear the lines... until they didn't.
Vega grabbed hold of his wife to shield her, but they both received burns when the basket touched the power lines. The shock went though the basket, but the pilot managed to correct the balloon path to get them to the ground safely.
All three were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
