Middle-schooler donates 150 pairs of shoes to younger students

Randall Middle School student Camden Grant is making good on her promise to first and second graders at Booker T. Washington Elementary in Tampa.

She promised to bring a pair of shoes to every student.

"The day has finally come. It's distribution day," said Camden. "I'm very excited to see all these kids receive their shoes."

Camden calls it Soles Shaping Souls.

"It's definitely grown much larger than I would have expected and I couldn't be more grateful to everyone who has donated and helped me and supported me," Camden said.

Camden started fundraising to buy shoes after she visited the school earlier this year on a volunteer service project.

"It's just that feel-good feeling in your heart and it's like no other feeling," she added.

The children are thankful for Camden's effort.

Camden has collected more than $6,000 to buy shoes and socks for the kids.

"This is everything to them," said teacher Sarah Keith. "They're going to go home this summer and get to wear them every day and they are going to think of this day and it's going to be really big for them."

Camden hopes her pay-it-forward attitude rubs off on the students.

"She inspires me to make the world a better place," fellow student Grace Corl said.

"It has to be one of the best feelings. It just gives you warm and fuzzy feeling in your heart," Camden said.

Camden brought 150 pairs of shoes to the students and plans on having other events to raise money for other projects in the future.
