What's next:

St. Pete Athletic is opening a 50,000-square-foot padel and social club this summer in the Warehouse Arts District off of the Pinellas Trail.

It will have eight indoor pickleball courts, six covered pickleball courts, padel and table tennis, dining, cocktails, a coffee bar, a sauna and club-level amenities.

Managing Operator Reuben Pressman said they’ll also host events and classes. He said the popup on the Pier is one of many ways they hope to increase access to pickleball in the community.

What they're saying:

"We plan to do all kinds of things in the community such as this, especially with K through 12 schools and getting youth involved," Pressman said. "Whatever we can do to play into pickleball’s accessibility to help more people come together around wellness and connection."

Owners of local businesses are partners as well. The owner of Green Bench Brewing Company and the owner of Intermezzo Coffee and Cocktails and Bar Mezzo are two of four partners, including Pressman. The club will have a craft beer bar with beers exclusively offered there.

All four partners are from St. Pete and say they’re excited to build something where they grew up.

The club is membership-based, but the public can get day passes as well.
