Snow fell in Tampa 43 years ago

On Jan. 19, 1977, the temperatures in Tampa dropped low enough for it to snow.

Approximately two-tenths of an inch fell across the Bay area with some areas getting half an inch of snow.

There was enough dusting to build snowmen and even have a snowball fight. Schools let the children outside to play in the historic snowfall.

The 1977 event was the last measurable snowfall the city has experienced.
